They are different from community chats, which are chats for Facebook groups. Create and customize group chats. Create a group chat on Messenger. Add someone to a group chat on Messenger. Add someone to a conversation. From Chats, open the conversation you want to add someone to. Tap the person or people's name at the top of the conversation. Tap Add or Create group chat with [friend's name]. Select or type the names of people you want to add and tap OK or ADD.
