26 oct. 2017 · In Chromium the words 'Make Default' is greyed out so one cant change the default search engine to Google. A work around is to make your home page google.com . This way, one can just open a new Tab to do Google search.

The best option is to visit the search engine's homepage, e.g. Startpage, and run a single search. It should be added to the browser's selection of search engines automatically at that point.
