imo, if that were the case, they could just alter chrome extension store ToS and make adblockers for youtube against guidelines and remove them from the store. there are numerous youtube adblockers still up and running, some even have the "featured" badge in the google store.
I found a new technique to skip the ads without triggering the adblocker detection by YouTube and packaged it into a Chrome extension. The extension's underlying logic enables it to fast-forward through the ad content to its conclusion.
Install tampermonkey extension to your browser. This helps install scripts. Then install the script linked on the page and it will block video ads. If your youtube video player is being blocked, disable your adblocker for youtube and the script will block the video ads. You will still get ads on the page, but they are not bothersome. This works.
Read up on Google's push manifest v3 for extensions on Chromium. v3 will effectively end ad blockers by preventing them from blocking ads and from updating their blacklist of ads as frequently as they do.
