After using multiple search engines, here's what I found: Google - obv the best search engine for any needs. DDG - good but not good for finding answers research questions or developer questions. Startpage - has a hard time finding semi big social media accounts, not good for research questions.
To fix it: Go into settings > Search Engine. When you scroll through the list of default search engines (Settings > Search Engine > Manage Search Engines), it will ONLY show Google. Use the search function in the upper right of this settings page and search for "search-fine"; then it will find a "Google" that is searching via search-fine.
The omnibar is not registering text strings into google search (my default search engine). Happened all of a sudden. A temporary fix for this problem is to create a new search engine entry, paste in the text below and set it as the default.
