Some apps made by developers other than Apple ask you to sign in with your Apple ID, so that the app can access information like mail, contacts, and calendars that you store in iCloud.
To add your email account to Outlook, you’ll need an app-password, also known as an application password. This is a different password than your regular iCloud account password. Close the Outlook error message window.

Once you've enabled 2 -step verification for your iCloud account, you have to generate an app-specific password to add your account to the Outlook app. Select Password and Security. Click Generate an App-Specific Password (a new app password is generated).

After you have that app password, you can add your iCloud account to Outlook. An app password is a one-time password that you'll use in place of your regular iCloud email password. It lets iCloud confirm that you're the person accessing your email.
