15 iun. 2021 · The free open-source poject that's behind Google Chrome. Open-source web browser. To keep things short, Chromium is an open-source browser the code of which is used in Google Chrome. Since both programs share the same lines of code and features, only differing in a few tiny details, they turn out to be very similar.
Setting up the build. Chromium uses Ninja as its main build tool along with a tool called GN to generate .ninja files. You can create any number of build directories with different configurations. To create a build directory which builds Chrome for Android, run: gn gen --args = 'target_os="android"' out / Default
Download Chromium. You can test Chrome builds or Chromium builds. Chrome builds have the most infrastructure for analyzing crashes and reporting bugs. They also auto-update as new releases occur, which makes them a good choice for most uses. Chrome Canary is available for Windows and Mac and autoupdates daily.
They are mostly useful to detect new features/bugs in Chromium and compare functionality with Bromite, but they provide as well a 100% vanilla working Chromium browser (with all the pros/cons). Verified safe to install (read more)
The extension support version has been discontinued. The last version is 88.0.4324.182. It will still be available for downloading, but no new version will be released. The extension patches can be found at chromium-android-extension. Anyone interested is welcomed to fork and keeps working on it.
