Google Chrome is ignoring the settings in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts file. Both IE11 and Firefox are installed on the same machine and work as expected. I've tried all the solutions I could find online including: Open chrome://net-internals/#dns and click the Clear Hosts Cache button.

14 sept. 2018 · I have 3 Windows 10 machines, and the hosts file is being ignored by ALL browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) on ALL 3 machines. Yes, I know how to edit the hosts file, been doing it for 20 years. But just actually checked a few websites, and the 127.0.0.1 entries are ignored (or not read at all).
24 iun. 2011 · You can check the location of your Chrome Profile Settings Path by visiting the chrome://profile-internals/ URI in Chrome. With a default installation it will just list one profile under 'Person 1' which you click on to show the Profile Path and other details.
15 oct. 2023 · The hosts file is located in "C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc" on both Windows 10 and 11, and you need administrative permissions to edit it. To block a website with the hosts file, direct the URL to either 0.0.0.0 or 192.168.0.1.
