13 mar. 2017 · Open chrome://plugins/ in the browser and disable the PDF Viewer plugin. Just for reference, the PDF Viewer plugin checkbox is now disabled from being toggled by the user. chrome://plugins/ is not available in Chrome 57+.
24 oct. 2023 · It appears the issue stemmed from a specific Adobe Acrobat setting in the Preferences - General tab, related to automatically opening PDFs in Chrome. Despite Chrome settings indicating otherwise, Adobe's setting overrode it. Clearing user preferences from the registry resolved the problem.
13 feb. 2019 · Once imported into your GPO, Chrome offers the setting: "Always open Pdf files externally". Once you check this feature, file should not automatically open in the internal PDF viewer.
15 mar. 2017 · I’ve done my best to assure that this should work in most environments, but I’ve only testing in Windows 7 and Windows 10 with the latest version of Chrome (57.0.2987.98 as of this writing). To customize for your environment modify the $neededFileExt to include the file extensions that you need automatically opened.
