There are old guides that come up that show search settings... which aren't on the current version browser. Others say "just add your regional google as the default search engine" but none say HOW!! Adding a search engine asks me for "URL with %s in place of query".
In Settings -> Search Engine you should be able to select whatever engine you want. If you don't see Qwant listed, go to the qwant website and see if they have a button there to set it as your default.
I used to have this security thing installed on my computer called McAfee, which would occasionally change my default search engine to Yahoo. Usually when this happened, I would just go into settings and change it back to Google, but it's no longer an option.
